Shooting vs Shooting is to be screened in Cinema City Film Festival that occurs in Novi Sad between the 18th - 25th June 2011. The film documentary by Nikos Megrelis is to be honorarbly participate in the category Democracy Export/Import. According to the organizers based on the example of “exporters” and “importers” of democracy, through authentic documentaries signed by eminent directors, this program clearly shows that in the 21st century, democracy has distanced itself from its essence and has become an excuse for wars and a toy in the hands of the mighty. Read more here

The documentary of journalist Nikos Megrelis, “Shooting vs. Shooting”, was the only Greek participation in this year’s Al Jazeera Festival, which drew its curtain last Sunday. Despite the 284 participants from 92 countries, the Greek documentary succeed to be one of the three finals for the Best Film Award of the 7th International Al Jazeera Documentary Festival. It contented for the great award of the Festival with the documentaries “Sons of the Sea” by Michael Lynch and “Pink Saris” by multi-awarded British director Kim Longinotto, who won the Golden Award. The documentary “Shooting vs. Shooting”, lasting 74’, is a penetrating view of the case of foreign journalists and reporters who have been killed during the war in Iraq. The film was particularly honored by the Festival, as it was presented the best day and hour of the event (Saturday 8:00 p.m.) and met with warm applause by the audience and positive critics. “Shooting vs. Shooting” is also going to participate in Novi Sad and in Algiers Festival this June.
